When it came to writing my next bio I thought I would do someone really current rather than going back it time. So I wanted to write about what I think is the song of the summer, certainly when I was in Ibiza there were 2 tunes that you heard everywhen. Firstly the is Prospa and Cloonee with Free your mind, it’s a great tune but I think it’s just been pipped to the post by Moving to the sun by HUGEL!
HUGEL was born Florent Hugel on the 4th December 1987. He is a French DJ, producer, and remixer from Marseille, internationally recognized as one of the leading figures in Latin house, tech‑house, and European club music. He rose to global prominence with his viral remix of “Bella Ciao” and later cemented his status with hits like “Morenita” and “I Adore You.” His sound—sun‑soaked, rhythmic, and irresistibly dance‑driven—has made him a staple of major festivals, Ibiza residencies, and global charts.
HUGEL was born and raised in Marseille, a city with a rich club culture that shaped his early musical identity. He began DJing at age 16, inspired by French electronic icons such as Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier, and Carl Cox. His earliest gigs took place in clubs across St. Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco, where he developed the groove‑heavy, percussion‑driven style that would later define his career.
His mother’s love for funk, soul, and disco also influenced his rhythmic sensibilities, giving him a strong melodic foundation.
HUGEL’s first major international attention came in 2017 with his collaboration with Robin Schulz on “I Believe I’m Fine,” which earned gold certification in Germany.
His true breakthrough arrived in 2018 with his remix of El Profesor – “Bella Ciao.” This became the official German summer hit of 2018 achieving platinum status in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, it surpassed 280 million streams and went viral globally, boosted by its association with La Casa de Papel (Money Heist, which was amazing by the way!) see the video below.

This remix propelled him into the international spotlight and established him as a master of transforming simple vocal hooks into massive dance anthems.
HUGEL is now a fixture at the world’s biggest festivals and clubs, performing at Tomorrowland, EDC in Vegas and many other festivals. He has held major Ibiza residencies at Pacha, Ushuaïa, and David Guetta’s BIG parties—key platforms that helped elevate his Latin‑house sound to global audiences.
His live sets are known for high‑energy percussion, tribal rhythms, and a signature ethos: “Make the girls dance!”
He has a signature sound that blends Latin, Tech, Deep and Afro house influences that are just perfect for the dance floor.
There is a heavy use of tribal drums, handclaps, and swinging grooves with Spanish‑language hooks and call‑and‑response vocals, this gives a warm, beach‑club energy mixed with European precision and that focus on dancefloor‑first production with catchy toplines.
His 2021 hit “Morenita” became a defining track of the Latin‑house movement, topping the Beatport House charts and becoming a global club anthem. Its one of those tunes that you can not stop you foot tapping too, just such a funky beat.

In recent years, he has expanded into Afro House, blending African rhythms with his signature style.
HUGEL has worked with or remixed with major artists now, including David Guetta, Robin Schulz and Diplo and his remix work is widely praised for turning simple hooks into festival‑ready anthems.
HUGEL approaches each track like a scene in a film—starting with a mood, then building percussion, vocals, and melodic elements around it. He emphasizes instinct and emotion, often beginning with a groove or sample that “feels alive.”
His production style is known for playful sample flips with Latin‑tech and tribal rhythms containing tight, punchy drums and hooks designed for peak‑time euphoria. The ability to merge Mediterranean, Latin, and Afro‑house influences has made him a defining figure in modern dance music.
His music is instantly recognizable—sunny, rhythmic, and built for dancefloors worldwide. With global hits, Ibiza residencies, and a rapidly growing fanbase, he has become a leading force in the evolution of Latin and tech‑house.
Moving to the Sun is Hugel’s defining hit of 2026 — a global dance anthem dominating charts, streaming platforms, and festival playlists. The collaboration with the vocals with Ultra Nate is genius. Hearing it on a big sound system on a packed dancefloor certainly made it stand out for me. Give your ears a treat, I guarantee you wil get your groove on lol!

Moving to the Sun didn’t just perform in clubs, it has charted across Europe and was number one in the Beatport chart works weeks. It also achieved 42.5M+ Spotify streams by mid‑July 2026.
HUGEL had Jamaican (Bam Bam) to carry the ongoing 2026 Momentum and although released earlier, it remained a major presence in 2026.

I think you’ll agree it’s been a mega year for Hugel and I for one can’t wait to see what weapons he has in store for us to dance to next summer.
